Solar Panel Installation Robot

Robotic Solar Panel Installation

We Are Revolutionizing Utility-Scale Solar Construction

ULC Technologies, a leader in the development of innovative, field-deployed robotics and technology, has partnered with Rosendin Electric to develop a fully autonomous robotic solar panel installation solution. These field-tested robots work collaboratively with human operators at solar farms—improving worker safety and increasing work efficiency by automating the time-consuming and labor-intensive aspects of the operation.

Key Benefits

Improve Worker Safety

Teams installing solar panels are lifting and moving heavy panels in hot, remote areas. Our solar construction robots do all the heavy lifting to reduce injuries.

Drive Productivty

Operating collaboratively with human workers, our solar panel installation robots accelerate utility-scale solar deployments.

Support Zero Emissions Goals

950 million solar panels are needed by 2035 to power homes, businesses, and communities. Our robots help the industry get there faster.

Rapid Panel Installation

Using advanced robotics and automation, this solution increases panel install rates (under one minute to install a panel).

Adaptable Platform

This robotic solution can work with all panel sizes and tracking systems to accommodate a wide range of solar farm designs.

Built for the Field

The robots can withstand rain, high wind, high temperatures and uneven terrain to ensure solar farm construction remains on schedule.

Meet the Robots

ULC Technologies has developed two robotic platforms to automate panel distribution and installation at any utility-scale solar farm.

The Panel Carrier Robots transports and delivers pallets of panels to every aisle for autonomous installation.

Within the aisles, the Panel Setting Robot works collaboratively with human operators to install panels on the torque tubes. This robot handles all the heavy lifting and precision placement of the panels.

These robots can install a wide range of panel sizes and work with different tracking systems in harsh environmental conditions to increase safety and efficiency.

100% Clean Energy by 2035? We Got This.

The U.S. plans to grow a clean energy economy, expanding solar energy production from 3% in 2022 to 40% in 2035. This means that 950 million panels will need to be installed, requiring a large-scale increase in solar outputs.

ULC Technologies’ solar construction robots help support this critical energy initiative by enabling contractors to accelerate the construction of utility-scale solar farms.    T

ULC Technologies

ULC Technologies works with leading utility and energy companies to develop and deploy robotic systems, inspection systems, machine learning and technology that helps reduce public disruption, minimizes environmental impact and improves safety.

Rosendin

Rosendin, headquartered in San Jose, is employee-owned and one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States, employing over 8,000 people, with $3 billion in revenue. Their customers lead some of the most complex construction projects in history and rely on their knowledge, ability to scale, and dedication to quality.

“Working with Rosendin’s use case, we designed and developed a solution that will revolutionize solar panel installation at large-scale sites. Extensive field testing proved how the robots relieve heavy lifting from workers, supplementing their expertise with a supportive tool that helps protect workers while allowing them to be more productive.”
